Practical SEO Services for Sustained Growth

Brian Watkins, founder of The SEOptimist

Your website could be doing more to grow your business. If you’re like many business owners I’ve talked to, one of these probably sounds familiar:

  • You have a decent website, but it’s not generating leads like you’d hoped. Or maybe it used to, but it doesn’t anymore.
  • You’ve done some SEO work in the past, but it’s unclear whether it created any tangible benefits.
  • You’ve done some piecemeal SEO work here and there, and would now like to be more aggressive.

Local, In-House SEO Work

All strategy, content, and site changes are handled directly by me.

That means no delays from outsourced work, and no disconnect between the strategy we discuss and the work that actually gets implemented.

SEO copy needs to be specific, reflect real understanding of your business, and speak directly to why someone came to your site in the first place.

Miss that, and rankings stop mattering. Writing isn’t a secondary skill here. It’s central to the outcome.

Simple, Reliable Reporting

We meet each month to review progress, with clear deliverables and straightforward explanations.

The goal isn’t to confuse or distract. It’s to make sure you understand what’s happening and feel confident in the direction we’re going.

Build a strong local presence through consistent NAP information, selective use of directories, and a well-optimized Google Business Profile.

The goal is simple: make it easy for the right people nearby to find and trust your business.

SEO for WordPress Websites

Most of the sites I work on are built on WordPress. It offers the flexibility to structure content properly, implement technical improvements cleanly, and scale your site as your business grows.

That said, not being on WordPress doesn’t mean we can’t do effective SEO. The fundamentals still apply regardless of platform. In some cases, though, we may be working without the same level of flexibility or tooling, which can affect how efficiently certain improvements are made.

FAQ For SEO Campaigns

How long does SEO take to work?
It varies from campaign to campaign, but there are some consistent patterns.

Around the three-month mark, we typically start seeing early signs of progress. By six months, those efforts tend to compound into something that can drive leads more consistently. Because of that, I usually tell people that if you’re not willing to invest at least six months, SEO may not be the right fit, especially in more competitive industries.

That doesn’t mean nothing happens before then. It just means the real value comes from what builds over time, not what happens in the first few weeks.

How often do you send reports?
We review progress together once a month.

I can provide updates more frequently if needed, but most meaningful changes in SEO don’t happen day to day. Monthly reporting tends to give a clearer picture without adding unnecessary noise to your inbox.

The goal is to keep you informed, not overwhelmed.

Long term contracts?
I ask for a minimum six-month commitment to get a campaign properly established.
After that, everything continues month to month. I don’t lock people into long-term contracts.

Some of my core clients have worked with me this way for years, which tends to say more than a contract ever could.

Are there startup fees?
No. When I provide a quote, that’s the price.

There are no hidden fees, and any setup or initial work is already built into the program rates.

What does getting started look like?
We’ll start with a conversation.

We’ll talk through your goals, what you’ve already done, and make sure there’s a good fit on both sides.

If everything feels right, I’ll follow up with a clear estimate and agreement. In many cases, we’re able to move forward right from that first meeting.

From there, we begin laying out content strategy and setting expectations for the first 30 days so you know exactly what’s coming next.

Do the SEO campaigns include blog posts?

Yes, but not for the sake of publishing on a schedule.

Each month, we focus on adding or improving content that supports your goals. Sometimes that means new blog posts, and other times it means refining core pages or expanding existing content.

The goal is to keep your site relevant, useful, and aligned with what your audience is actually looking for.
